Zurich capital of the
canton of Zurich and largest city of Switzerland. Placed in an Alpine setting
at the north-western end of Lake Zürich, this cultural, financial, and
industrial centre stretches out between two forested chains
of hills, about 60 km from the northern foothills of Alps. Two rivers, the
Limmat and Sihl, run through the town. Zurich’s northeaster and western
limitations are formed by the Albis Mountains. Zurich may be a lively and
dynamic small metropolis. Quite 430,000 people from around 170 nationalities
sleep in Switzerland’s largest city. Quite three out of ten Zurich residents do
not have a Swiss passport.
Zurich is pleased with this diversity of mentalities and lifestyles, of its
cosmopolitanism and therefore the fruitful coexistence of different
nationalities and cultures. Zurich has established itself as a crucial centre
for ICT, life sciences, clean tech also as creative industries and tourism.
